This all began years ago when I wrote my first book about the challenges of being a stepmom. Once my book became a best seller on amazon, women sought me out wanting to learn how to survive their life being married to a man with children from a previous relationship. Some asked “where was your book ten years ago when I was really going through? At that time I starting taking calls from other stepmoms and couples so Hubby and I started a ministry for blended families.
Not long after I wrote my book for stepmoms, I went back and wrote a book about experiencing divorce in the church. Divorced and Still Highly Favored discussed my challenges being married and divorced twice to the same pastor husband. Becoming a pastor’s wife once again, I was led to write a book for Pastor’s wives and women married to ministry. This led to creating an online ministry and coaching program for wives which became my signature program Chosen Pearls.
In the course of doing all of this I completed my doctorate in Christian Counseling and started seeing clients. My specialty quickly became Pastor’s wives and Christian women married to influencers. Why wives? Most likely because of the troubles I experienced simply trying to be myself but living in the shadows of my husband’s greatness. I also knew what it was like to live in fear of being a distraction to my husband’s ministry and sitting down on my own God given gifts.
When I finally got the courage to do what I was created to do, I knew that I would need some help. Whether that was help to write another book or to learn how to effectively build my own coaching program, I was led to hire a coach. Over the course of the last eight years I have hired a variety of coaches who helped me produce products to help women walking a similar journey. Each coach helped me significantly but each one left me with the same challenge. Each one convinced me that in order to be successful, I had to choose between Stepmoms, Divorced Christian Women, and Pastor’s wives or wives of influencers.
Choosing was a struggle for me even though it made sense. As a result I shifted my energies including my website, blogs and writing to focus on Pastor’s wives. I helped her to “emerge from the shadows, walk beside her husband, and to stand on her own platform. In other words, I helped her to emerge from the shadows of her husband’s greatness by changing her mindset and helping her to have the clarity, confidence and courage to do what she was created to do without being a distraction to the ministry and still have a blessed and happy marriage. Every now and then I was blessed to serve a woman who walked a similar journey as pastor’s wife, divorced, remarried and a bonus mom.
Right before the pandemic, God placed in my spirit to create an online school for women. God gave me the name Pearls Perfected Institute for Christian Women. I had a logo created and moved my coaching programs to a new platform. I had the vision of a “safe place” where Christian women could find the resources they needed to help them along their journey through whatever they were dealing with. However, I got sidetracked when I couldn’t clearly explain my vision and was told by experts that it was not the right thing to do or that it was impossible and would not be successful. I listened to the experts rather than to God.
Since I believed the lie of such a place not being possible, I spent more money and time “perfecting” my coaching program for wives. I focused on my secular job, working remotely and surviving the pandemic physically, emotionally, financially, socially and spiritually like everyone else. Expanding Pearls Perfected Institute beyond my coaching programs went on the back burner. Each time I looked at the logo I had created, I felt like a failure because I did not do the work to make it happen. I prayed for direction and felt like God was mad at me for not being obedient.
The Bible instructs us in write the vision and make it plain. “Then the Lord told me: “I will give you my message in the form of a vision. Write it clearly enough to be read at a glance.” Habakkuk 2:2 (CEV). “At the time I have decided, my words will come true. You can trust what I say about the future. It may take a long time, but keep on waiting – it will happen!”(Verse 3)
In January 2023 while on vacation, the time finally came when the vision of Pearls Perfected Institute became clear. I vowed to trust God to help me to bring it to fruition no matter how long it would take. The more obedient I was, God sent people to help me. I found a copywriter who helped put my vision into words. God sent an angel from Africa to help me with converting websites, etc. I took the focus off of me and focused on Pearls Perfected Institute. As I shared the proposed components of PPI I became more confident that “all things are possible” with God.
So here you are reading about my vision to continue the “good work” God started in me. I now see how God transformed my troubles into not only a blessing for me but for others.
